Michael J. Hurd is Vice President of Underwriting for Bridge Debt Strategies Fund Manager LLC. Mr. Hurd has more than 25 years of experience in commercial real estate and 20 in the commercial real estate lending field.
Before joining Bridge, Mr. Hurd was a senior underwriter for Morgan Stanley’s Commercial Mortgage Backed Securities lending platform underwriting or originating billions of dollars in CMBS debt from its Washington, D.C. office between 2005 and 2017. From 1998 through May of 2005, Mr. Hurd was a commercial real estate lender with Conning Asset Management, a division of General American Life. Conning was acquired by MetLife, SwissRE and eventually KeyBank during this time. Mr. Hurd originated and serviced loans for all property types for a variety of investors including CMBS, life insurance companies, pension funds and the agencies Fannie Mae, FHA and Freddie Mac.
Prior to 1997 Mr. Hurd was Controller and In-House Counsel for a Northern Virginia based commercial real estate firm and began his career with an apartment owner and home builder working in property management and then land acquisition and development.
Mr. Hurd received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a major in Finance from James Madison University and a Juris Doctor from George Mason University School of Law. Mr. Hurd is an inactive member of the Virginia Bar and holds an inactive Virginia Real Estate Salesperson’s license, as well as the CCIM designation.
